Welcome to The Lottery’s test drive meme! Before we get to the prompts, here are a few things to note:

Though you may only have ONE active character per round, you are free to play as many characters you wish on the TDM. Later, you will have the opportunity to bench characters if you want to try another, but only after you’ve been accepted.

Please be sure to thoroughly look through our FAQ so that you have a good understanding of the game’s mechanics. Also be sure to browse the information provided on both The Attribution Study and Shiroiwa for a better idea of the setting.

Important Note: A thread of 9 comments in the TDM (with at least 5 comments from your character) will count towards both sample requirements in the application. Consider this a special bonus for getting your feet wet in our community!

If your thread does not reach the required amount of comments, it may still be used as the In-World Sample in your application.

Flashback/Background threads in the TDM may be reposted to Shiroiwa Academy’s Community if both players were accepted into the game.

Provided below are some sample scenarios, but please feel free to plot and play whatever you’d like!

Sample Scenarios:

Sample 1:

You’ve just transferred to one of the three grade levels in Shiroiwa Academy and have yet to make any friends. Sure, people showed you around, but nothing has quite stuck yet. So as the lunch bell goes off, you pull out your bento and prepare to eat alone when another student saddles up beside you. Perhaps they’re being friendly or perhaps they simply want to mooch off of your food. Whatever the reasoning, you’re now stuck in some form of communication whether you like it or not.

Sample 2:

Everyone just loves partner projects, don’t they? Your teacher has randomly assigned you a partner, and now you both must come up with a presentation to show the class. Are you the type who does all the work? Do you push for fair exchange? Or perhaps you have no plans to do any work at all. Whichever it is, your partner is now moving their stuff to sit at the desk next to you. Better gather your might and prepare to weather the oncoming storm…

Sample 3:

It’s March 14, 20XX. You have been kidnapped and taken to the island, given your randomized duffle bag, and are now either desperately seeking shelter or methodically preparing to hunt down your weaker classmates. Whatever it is, you stumble upon another student - whether you know them well or not doesn’t matter. The rules have already been made clear to both of you - only one person gets to win. You need to either escape, kill, or attempt to make a truce with this classmate. What will you do?

Sample 4:

Your weapon broke. Perhaps it snapped as you embedded it into the skull of one of your classmates, or perhaps it was simply a stroke of bad luck. You return to the hideout you created for yourself, seeking a weapon you’d taken from a fallen student. But as you near the space, you realize something is off. There is some telltale sign that another has been here… Are they still around? Will you investigate? What if your stockpile has been pilfered by another student?

Give me three good reasons why I should bother forming a truce with you.

[anyone who knows kuramochi can tell that he'll end up forming the truce with this guy, but this is a chance where he can get back at miyuki for being a piece of shit all the other times.]

[And the Kazuya-- breathes a sigh of relief instead. There's still that little piece of him that's wary and careful, especially with a weapon like that, but it's always been so easy to crack a grin with his favorite classmate around. It's not really like Kuramochi threatening him is all that new. The weapon is, but. Eh. Details.]

Who else are you going to argue with every day? Can you imagine the void that'll leave in your life?

[Though his smile is a bit tired, it still holds the same old teasing and amusement that it always does when he's around Kuramochi.]

[kuramochi goes quiet. what kind of reason is that! but then again it's true that he wouldn't have anyone else to talk about stupid crap outside of baseball... but there's still some tolerance for him to actually admit that and gives a frown.]

The hell's arguing with you be a good reason?? It's just you pissing me off anyways! ...And that ain't even three reasons!

[the last part's the most important part, really.]

[Kazuya laughs that annoying little laugh of his that always sounds so condescending, though it's quieter than usual. Kuramochi does have a point.]

But doesn't it make things more exciting? [Kazuya finds stupid shit exciting.]

Here- [He pulls out a package of cookies he managed to find in one of the buildings.] Reason number two.

Only for you, Shitty Glasses...

[he gives a sigh, his frown being more troubled than just plain annoyed.

you can clearly tell kuramochi's not going to try killing miyuki at this point. he'd have killed his stupid glasses classmate-and-teammate-~~friend~~ already if he was really considering it. now, he's considering how much of a pain it'd be to be teamed up with this guy; who knows how many people this catcher pissed off before kuramochi ran into him.

his frown does lessen when he look at the package.]

Well that's one good reason.

[Kuramochi definitely isn't wrong. If there's one thing Kazuya's good at, it's pissing people off. But hey, he's also really good at strategizing!

He tosses the cookies toward Kuramochi, happy to trade some food for some assured peace and quiet.]

You watch my back, I'll watch yours. [He throws up three fingers, signalling reason number 3.] Like always.

[kuramochi did take miyuki's strategic skills into account as the actual first reason, not miyuki's shitty one.

he accepts the cookies happily as he catches the bag.]

"Like always?" You mean never. [this truce is only effective for during the time they're being cooperative and kuramochi suspects that's not going to last for the entire time. things'll change as time goes.]

...It's a truce for now. [good thing you had the cookies, otherwise the negotiation might have been iffy.]

So what, did you run into a group and and piss them off already to force you into forming a truce?

What, I don't back you up enough on the field? [Which... is probably at least kinda true. Kuramochi and Kazuya don't really need to play off each other too much in baseball... but well!!!! The few times he does should totally count.]

Hmm...

[He wipes off the smudges on his glasses and slides them back on with that same shitty smirk.] How'd you guess?

This ain't baseball, so no. [well yeah, they'd do a lot of teamwork on field, especially when they're trying to get the runner out between first and second base. but only during games! he can't trust your back as soon as baseball's not related!

and for the other question...]

Well knowing you and your shitty personality, you probably provoked some group of losers. It ain't hard to tell what went on.

You got me there. [That was pretty much right on the money, though it didn't help that they'd all wanted to kill Kazuya in the first place. Kazuya just... wasn't successful in changing their minds. In fact, one could say he just further solidified their desire to kill him. Oops.]

So, have you been making yourself cozy here this whole time? [He looks around the little cavern.]

[and that's your fault, shitty glasses.]

Me? Nah, I was just wandering around. Not much luck running into people compared to you.

[he takes a better look around the cave as he answers.

maybe it's because of the weapon he has in his hand and his looks that people have avoided him? or that he was actually lucky in avoiding people because people would probably want to take him out by outnumbering the punk to ensure their safety.]

But this place does seem like a good hiding spot for a while. You're pretty lucky to find this place.

Maybe your luck's been rubbing off on me, Kuramochi. Mind if I stick around with you a little longer? I think I'll need it.

[He laughs a little, scratching the back of his head.]

A good luck charm sounds pretty good right about now.

[ew gross

Kuramochi gives a look in response.] What the fuck, I ain't gonna give up my luck to you.

[But Kuramochi, your luck already ran out the moment you ran into Miyuki...

Maybe he should reconsider this truce and abandon Miyuki.] If you say that kinda shit again I'm ditching you.
